IIT Kanpur - Admission 2025, Fees, Courses, Cutoff, Placement, Ranking

IIT Kanpur popularly known as IITK was established in 1959. It is located in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh. IITK offers various undergraduate and postgraduate courses. The UG courses include BTech in branches like CSE, EE, ECE, etc. The PG courses offered are MTech, PhD, M.Des, MBA and MSc. B.Tech admissions are based on JEE Advanced scores, followed by counseling through JoSAA. M.Tech admissions are based on GATE scores, while MBA admissions consider CAT scores. Other programs like M.Sc and Ph.D. have their respective entrance exams. 

For this year, MTech admissions are closed, registrations for next year will begin in August, 2025 and the exam will be conducted in February, 2026. BTech admission for this year is about to end. Merit Cum Means Scholarship

It's a merit-based scholarship with a financial requirement. Students receive complete tuition remission and a monthly pocket allowance of Rs 1,000 for the duration of the program. Beneficiaries must maintain a CPI of 6.5 or higher. If the CPI rises above 6.5, the pocket allowance is eliminated (but remains above 6.0). A student only needs to submit a copy of their parent's income tax return to be considered for the prize. This prize is available to students from other than the category (SC/ST) who have a parent's annual income of fewer than 4.5 lakhs.

Inspire Scholarship

The Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur receives an annual stipend of Rs 30,000 per semester (Rs 60,000 annually) and a Rs 20,000 research grant. This reward is open to students in the Chemistry, Physics, and Mathematics departments who have an AIR of 10,000 or higher on the standard merit list. It is a merit-based award, and recipients must have a CPI of at least 6.0 to qualify. Students must submit an undertaking to the SSPC each semester to be eligible for any other scholarship.

Scholarship for a Free-Basic Mess

This scholarship is available to students who fall into the (SC/ST) category and have an annual household income of fewer than 4.5 lakhs. The Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur scholarship covers the cost of a basic food plan and a stipend.
